Oral Histology Core
The Oral Histology Core provides histology services for researchers in the College of Dental Medicine, for researchers in other departments on the MUSC campus and for researchers outside of MUSC.
Services include:
- tissue processing
- sectioning
- routine histological and specialty staining of tissues
- immunohistochemistries
- digital slide scanning, photomicroscopy
- laser capture microdissection
Consultation service is available for protocols, embedding and staining. Samples may be submitted for processing by the Core Technician or researchers may choose to use Core facilities and equipment independent of the Core Technician.
The Oral Histology Core is located in room 129 of the Basic Science Building and is under the direction of Dr. Keith Kirkwood. Laboratory services are available from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. After hours use of the Histology Core is also available for approved users. All Histology Core activity must be pre-approved and may be scheduled by contacting either the Core Supervisor or Technician.
